Serum cups provide improved standardization without sacrificing
identification - when used with 13 mm evacuated blood collection
tubes in hight volume automated analyzers such as DuPont®
Dimension, Boehringer Mannheim®/Hitachi® 747,
Kodak® Ektachem 700 series systems, and other direct-tube
sampling machines.
For each sample, serum is transferred into the cup, which
is immediately placed in a nested position on top of the collection
tube. Re-labeling is unnecessary, and the sample remains
with the original barcode label on the collection tube.
The cup-tube combination enhances uniformity by allowing
the analyzer to aspirate from a standardized cup, thereby
helping to eliminate error and variations caused by methodological
differences.
Serum cups are precision-molded from crystal-clear polystyrene.
Evergreen's rigid Quality Assurance Program checks all of
the following parameters: dimensional uniformity, leakage,
and physical appearance.
Perforated flat-top polyethylene caps help minimize variation
caused by evaporation during processing. Also available are
non-perforated flat-top caps and push top stoppers appropriate
for short term storage.
