FTK fecal transport kits offer the three most commonly
used preservatives: 10% buffered formalin, zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) PVA,
and SAF (sodium acetate formalin). Mercuric chloride (HgCl2) PVA
has been discontinued for environmental reasons.
Each of the three preservatives is available as a single
vial. Zinc sulfate PVA is also available with 10% buffered
formalin as a dual vial kit. The 10% buffered formalin is
recommended for wet mount and concetration procedures, and
the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fixatives are recommended for
permanent trichrome staining.
Single vial kit with sodium acetate formalin (SAF) are appropriate
for wet mount and concentration procedures, as well as for
permanent staining using modified iron-hematoxylin stain with
carbol fuchsin. (Ask our Customer Service Department for supplemental
literature detailing this technique).
Choose 15 ml vials (each filled with 9 ml preservative).
15 ml vial kits may be used directly with Evergreen's FPC®
Fecal Parasite Concentrator, and 30 ml vial kits may be used
directly with Evergreen's FPC JUMBO® Fecal Parasite Concentrator.
Only Evergreen Scientific and its authorized distributors
